Timothy Chey was a former Harvard-educated atheist who found Christ in his 30’s. Before he found Christ, he was a litigation attorney who worked for two of the top, largest law firms in LA. He wasn’t happy and decided to go into film directing/producing. He directed his first film that Universal Studios acquired in 1998.
Still, it wasn’t enough. It was until suffering a breakdown in the Philippines that brought him to Christ. From that point on, he embarked on making faith-based films and was one of the early pioneers along with Rich Christiano.
He’s gone on to produce over 13 faith-based films, including ‘Freedom’ (Cuba Gooding, Jr, William Sadler), ‘The Islands’ (Mira Sorvino, John Savage, Ricky Sua’ava), ’20 Minutes’ (Dia Frampton, Michael Camp) and others.
He will be directing the sequel for ‘The Islands’ and ‘The Duchess of Criminality’ soon.
He was baptized by Pastor Chuck Smith at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa in 2002.
He’s now a sold-out Believer in Christ as his wife. They have two children.
“Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners of whom I am the worst,” says Chey, repeating after the Apostle Paul. “But Christ has forgiven me and my goal is to make Him known to the world.”
